Optimisation

The RAMS suite offers a wide range of optimisation models to tackle the challenge of Asset Allocation and portfolio selection (stock picking). Building on classic mean/variance models, RAMS allows users a flexible approach, where they can focus on specific factors and minimise risk. RAMS includes sophisticated and cutting-edge optimisation models, such as the Black/Litterman model or the minimisation of CVaR.

With ORS’ sophisticated applications, portfolio managers have complete performance attribution and risk evaluation tools to help them understand their broad range of considerations: whether they’re looking at a group of portfolios or a single financial instrument.

Performance

The performance module by ORS allows in a powerful and efficient way to implement the methodologies and the representation schemes more suitable to one’s own system. The programme uses a number of calculation models, including Time Weighted, Money Weighted and Internal Rate of Return, and of performance parameters, which apply to every level of portfolio, manager, area aggregation, with the possibility of comparing with the benchmark. This tool allows an analysis with the factorization up to the detail of the performance of a single asset.

Risk Management

ORS has created an energy risk management system to manage the financial problems of the businesses operating in the energy sector.

With this applicative it is possible to manage all the risk dynamics coming from the purchase and the sale of electric power, natural gas and oil products such as diesel oil and fuel oil.

The agglomerate of the various positions the operator has acquired in the energy field have been considered like an asset portfolio, the aggregate value of which fluctuates when the cost of electricity, of gas and of all those factors – such as the price of raw materials – affecting its trend changes for some reason.

The risk of this portfolio either increases or decreases according to the weight of the different open positions and according to the risk propensity of the operator himself.

Load Forecasting

ORS ha realizzato un sistema per il forecast dei consumi che permette ad un operatore energetico di prevedere quanta Energia consumerà il proprio portafoglio clienti. Con questo sistema è possibile calcolare le previsioni di consumo di Energia (Elettrica e Gas) in un determinato arco temporale e con aggregazioni di vario tipo, mediante raffinate tecniche di Cluster Analysis.

Data Collection

The need of having consistent database, with which historical series of processes to optimize have been made up, has brought ORS to create evolved applicatives aimed at collecting the data coming from different sources (e.g. websites, sensor networks, etc.) in order to feed their own database.

Data Warehousing & Reporting

The need of having an integrated overview of all the data coming from several different information sources, referring to extended time periods and aimed at the users’ requirements, has brought ORS to create their own Datawarehouse platform.

On this basis ORS has made up for their customers a platform to support their decision making as far as energy is concerned.

Optimization

Data Warehousing & Reporting

ORS has built a Datawarehouse for the collection of data coming from several different information sources. Such DWH is thought to be an important support platform for the customers’ choices.
